First
Peter discusses Jesus’ life of preaching and healing. Jesus was crucified, and then he rose up and was seen by his chosen witnesses. Peter also mentions the importance of all the disciples bearing witness to what they saw, so that many people would believe in Jesus, and have their sins forgiven through him.
Second
Paul asserts that we must pay attention to higher realms rather than earthly concerns. Our life is not yet completely known to us, until Christ appears and we are raised to glory in him.
Gospel: John 20:1-9
When Mary Magdalene discovered Jesus’ tomb was open, she told Simon Peter and another disciple. They ran to the tomb and Peter went inside. He found the burial wrappings on the ground, with the head covering separate from the rest. The other disciples came in and they believed what they saw, although until then they had not understood the Scripture’s message of Jesus’ resurrection.

PRAY FOR PEACE
Prayer for Generosity
Dear Lord, teach me to be generous;
Teach me to serve you as you deserve;
To give and not to count the cost;
To fight and not to heed the wounds;
To toil and not to seek for rest;
To labor, and not to ask for any reward –
except that of knowing that I am doing your holy will.
AMEN.

Married Couples: “Love is patient, love is kind; love is not envious or boastful or arrogant or rude. It does not insist on its own way; it is nor irritable or resentful; it does not rejoice in wrongdoing, but rejoices in the truth. It bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, and endures all things. Love never ends.”

Easter Message
Dear Sisters and Brothers in Christ,
It seems like only a few weeks ago that I was writing the Christmas Letter. It shows you how time goes by quickly. Recently I came across what might have been a journal kept by St. Peter. Here is a little excerpt: From Peters Journal. I don’t know what to think. Mary of Magdala is such a good woman. She wanted me to go to the tomb (the last place I wanted to be). John wanted to go as well. Oh, the optimism of youth and the folly of women. But how could I expect to find anything but emptiness. Although I was breathing, I felt like a dead man. My shame over my denial of Jesus had paralyzed me. I had no tears left, I felt as I was merely going through the motions as I approached the tomb. I was empty, just as Mary had said. But I was totally unprepared …. The emptiness was FULL! I had forgotten how often God comes in the emptiness of my life. Even though I have only seen an empty tomb, my heart is full. The story is not over. In some ways I think it has just begun. Can it be that I will somehow be able to tell Jesus how sorry I am for abandoning him? I must gather the eleven. We must be alert and ready for the Lord. He is risen – I can feel His Love, I must find a way to ask his forgiveness to tell him that I love Him. Whatever he has yet to ask of me I will do. This time I will not fail Him. Interesting account! Today we take up that banner that Peter and the other eleven took. Today we are prophetic people, become His Body that breathes His Peace, shares His life, proclaims His forgiveness, and does His justice – wherever we go. His Spirit gives us the power to be all this. This too, is our dignity and high calling. Unlike Peter, wanting to ask for forgiveness because of his failure we know God’s love, Compassion and forgiveness are always there inspite of our human weakness and failings because of the Risen Christ. ALLEUIA!
HAVE A BLESSED AND HAPPY EASTER Your Pastor, Fr. Seamus
