The Ascension

                       Of the Lord

           May 16, 2010

First Reading:  Acts 1:1-11

“It is not for you to know the times or seasons that the Father has established by his own authority. But you will receive the power when the Holy Spirit comes upon you, and you will be witness in Jerusalem, throughout Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earths.” When he had said this as they were looking on, he was lifted up and a cloud took him from their sight.

Second Reading: Ephesians 1:17-23

May the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of Glory give you a spirit and wisdom and revelation resulting in knowledge of him.

Gospel:  Luke 24-46-53

Jesus said to his disciples: “Thus it is written that the Christ would suffer and rise from the dead on the third day and that repentance, for the forgiveness of sins, would be preached in his name to all the nations, beginning from Jerusalem. You are witnesses of these things. And behold I am sending the promise of my Father upon you; but stay in the city until you are clothed with power from on high.

          PRAY FOR PEACE

Prayer for Generosity

Dear Lord, teach me to be generous;

Teach me to serve you as you deserve;

To give and not to count the cost;

To fight and not to heed the wounds;

To toil and not to seek for rest;

To labor, and not to ask for any reward –

except that of knowing that I am doing your holy will.

                                            AMEN.

A prayer for the sick

Creator of goodness and love, hear our prayers for the sick members of our community and for all who are in need. Amid mental and physical suffering may they find consolation in your healing presence. Show mercy as you close wounds, cure illness, make broken bodies whole and free downcast spirits.

May these people especially:

Fr. Tony Lachner, Eugene Demuth,

Bev Stehli, Mittie Phillips,

 Betty Parces and Kathryn Letkey.

find lasting health and deliverance, and join us in thanking you for all your gifts. We ask this through our Lord Jesus Christ who healed those who believed.

                                                  AMEN.

AN ATTITUDE OF GRATITUDE

How many times do you say, “Thank God” and really mean it? Do those words simply fall from your lips or do you think first? We believe that everything we have is a gift from our gracious and loving God, yet we often forget to give credit where it is due. Be thankful for all of your gifts and remember to give back to God a portion of all God has given you.

PLEASE NOTE;

Please turn off your cell-phone when entering the Church.

                                     Thank You.
