            Eleventh Sunday

              In Ordinary Time

           June 13, 2010

First Reading:  2 Samuel 12:7-10.13

Because God was displeased with the actions of David concerning Uriah’s death in order to marry Bathsheba, God sent Nathan to reprimand David. Nathan reminds David that God anointed him King of Israel and victor over Saul. David realizes his sin against God, but Nathan continues to reveal to David that the child to be born to him shall die.

Second Reading: Galatians 2:16, 19-21

Paul writes of the struggles between Gentiles and Jews who both now profess belief in Christ Jesus. Paul proclaims his life in Christ, working towards unity and faith in the Son of God.

Gospel:  Luke 7:36-8.3

While Jesus was dining at the home of a Pharisee, a woman of the city who was a sinner came and anointed his feet with oil. Weeping, her tears fell upon Jesus’ feet and she dried them with her hair. Because of the woman’s respect and love, Jesus forgives her sins. This causes those present at the table to question who he is.

           PRAY FOR PEACE

Prayer for Generosity

Dear Lord, teach me to be generous;

Teach me to serve you as you deserve;

To give and not to count the cost;

To fight and not to heed the wounds;

To toil and not to seek for rest;

To labor, and not to ask for any reward –

except that of knowing that I am doing your holy will.

                                            AMEN.

Catholic Communication Campaign

Collection

June 13, 2010

Help Us Share the Good News!

The collection this weekend June 12/13, 2010 supports the CATHOLIC COMMUNICATION CAMPAIGN. Your gift helps CCC and our Diocese to provide television, radio and print materials that spread the Good News of Christ’s abiding love for each and every one of us.

PLEASE BE AS GENEROUS AS YOU CAN.

A prayer for the sick

Creator of goodness and love, hear our prayers for the sick members of our community and for all who are in need. Amid mental and physical suffering may they find consolation in your healing presence. Show mercy as you close wounds, cure illness, make broken bodies whole and free downcast spirits.

May these special people find lasting health and deliverance, and join us in thanking you for all your gifts. We ask this through our Lord Jesus Christ who healed those who believed.

                                                  AMEN.

A Special Thank You

for Fr. Seamus’ Anniversary Party

As the month of Father’s 35th Anniversary came to an end, we would like to thank each and every one of you for making the day a very special one, one that we are sure Father will remember and treasure for years to come. Special thanks to the more than 45 volunteers who helped set up and cleaned up the hall and to everyone who brought so many delicious desserts. Some of you were decorating; others were washing dishes, while others were mixing whipped cream for those famous Irish coffees! Thanks too, to our music ministry for the wonderful music during Mass and to our singer and musicians for their entertainment at the reception! So many of you did so many things, we can’t begin to list every contribution. It was one of our best events, all made possible because of the wonderful community we share.

Thank you all very much.

Fr. Seamus, the Hospitality Committee

            and the Parish Council.

The Year of the Priest

Prayer for Vocation

Good and gracious God, hear our prayer for

an increase in priestly vocations. Touch the hearts of young men in our world today.

Instill in them a burning desire to serve you.

Give them the courage to answer your call with generous hearts.

Reveal to them a vision of your Kingdom. Help them to see the joy of priestly ministry. Lead them in the footsteps of your Son, Jesus Christ.

We ask you to bless our seminarians and guide them on the path toward priesthood. Strengthen them as they are educated and formed in the duties and responsibilities of the priesthood. Help them to become faithful servants and leaders in the Church today.

We ask this through Jesus Christ, who lives and reigns now and forever.

                                              AMEN.
