First Reading:  Jeremiah 31: 7-9

Jeremiah speaks of God reuniting the people of Israel after their exile.  He states that although they departed in tears, God will lead them all back and protect them because he is father to Israel.

Second Reading: Hebrews 5: 1-6

Each high priest is taken from among people and offers sacrifices for their sins.  High priests do not choose to take on this honor, but are chosen by God.  Even Christ did not choose this office, but was chosen by God to be a priest forever.

Gospel:  Mark 10: 46-52

A blind beggar approached Jesus and pleaded that Jesus heal him.  Jesus called the man over and said, “Your faith has healed you.” The man immediately received his sight and proceeded to follow Jesus up the road.

Prayer for Generosity

Dear Lord, teach me to be generous;

Teach me to serve you as you deserve;

To give and not to count the cost;

To fight and not to heed the wounds;

To toil and not to seek for rest;

To labor, and not to ask for any reward –

except that of knowing that I am doing your holy will.

WORLD MISSION COLLECTION

We would like to thank all parishioners for their contribution in last Sunday’s World Mission collection. You donated the amount of $590.50. If you did not turn in your collection, you may do so today.

Catholics around the world – Catholics in the Missions as well – will gather at the Eucharist around the table of the

Lord and offer prayers and generous help so that the “Good News of Jesus Christ” may be proclaimed to the poor and the suffering in every corner of the globe.

The help offered through Propagation of the Faith will provide for the pastoral and evangelizing work of more than 1100 dioceses throughout Asia, Africa, Latin America and the Pacific Islands.
