The Feast of Christ the King

November 22, 2009

First Reading:  Daniel 7:13-14

Daniel describes the one who will appear on the clouds of heaven and receive glory. People of every language will serve this one, and his leadership and community will be his forever.

Second Reading: Revelation 1:5-8

Jesus is so powerful; he is the ruler of kings. He loved us enough to free us from sin, and so he will be glorified forever. He will appear again and be seen by all the people on earth. God calls himself the first and last, “the One who is and who was and who is to come,” reminding all people that God will remain with us always.

Gospel:  John 18:33-37

Pilate asks Jesus if he is a king. Jesus explains that his kingdom is not of this world. Pilate asks again if Jesus is a king, to which he replies, “I came into the world to testify to the truth. Anyone committed to the truth hears my voice.

          PRAY FOR PEACE

Prayer for Generosity

Dear Lord, teach me to be generous;

Teach me to serve you as you deserve;

To give and not to count the cost;

To fight and not to heed the wounds;

To toil and not to seek for rest;

To labor, and not to ask for any reward –

except that of knowing that I am doing your holy will.

                                                  AMEN.

STEWARDSHIP - November 22, 2009

The Feast of Christ the King

Today’s second reading reminds us that the sacrifice of Christ frees us from sin and makes us a royal nation of priests in the service of God. How am I using my gifts to serve God and others?

Always Hope

There are times so difficult and hard to bear,

We feel we just can’t cope;

But when we take it to our Lord in prayer

We find there’s always hope.

He’s touched with each infirmity

His Holy Spirit’s nigh.

He knows just what we’re going through,

And always hears our cry.

Though circumstances may not change

The way we think they should,

He answers each and every prayer

For his glory and our good.

Thank you Father that we can rely

On your tender loving care,

And that you always hear and answer

Every single prayer.
